The purpose of this engineering guide
Help homeowners ask clearer questions before choosing an assessment, a structural system or a retrofit scope.
Begin with continuity
Pavilionvaultbambo is an independent informative website about earthquake-resistant residential engineering. Our organising idea is the load path: the continuous route that carries demand from roofs and floors, through walls or frames, into foundations and the ground.
This approach makes engineering decisions easier to discuss without reducing them to a shopping list of products. A wall, brace or anchor is useful only within a suitable system. The site therefore explains the route before comparing components.
Our intended reader is a homeowner preparing to commission structural work, review an alteration or understand a retrofit proposal. We do not provide remote structural certification, inspect properties through this website or offer emergency building assessments.
Keep evidence and limitations together
We use named standards and public technical references to establish context. References such as Eurocode 8, ASCE/SEI 7, ASCE/SEI 41 and FEMA publications serve different purposes. Mentioning them does not mean they apply to every reader’s location or that this website reproduces their requirements.
Our structural images are conceptual explanations. They omit project dimensions, reinforcement schedules, fastener patterns and other information needed for construction. A clear illustration must not be mistaken for a buildable detail.
We distinguish general principles from matters that require investigation: soil conditions, concealed materials, connection installation, existing damage and the governing regulatory framework. Local codes and qualified professionals determine the appropriate design.
Improve the next conversation
The most useful outcome is a better brief: a factual description of a building, a clearly stated concern, a list of available records and an understanding of what still needs to be investigated. Our contact-page tool prepares that description locally, without submitting it.
If you notice a technical ambiguity, broken reference or unclear distinction, please identify the page and passage when writing to us. Editorial correspondence is not a substitute for advice from an engineer responsible for your property.
